Old Saybrook firefighters hose down hot spots in the smoldering ruins of a cottage that burned down during Hurricane Sandy which barreled into southern New England on October 29, 2012. Firefighters were unable to reach the blaze due to serious flooding. The fire spread to the neighboring cottage, destroying it as well.
